hello everyone, i have ordered the ep1,which will be delivered next tuesday, this is the first micro 4/3rds i have had, i wonder what you experienced users think about the camera, and any advice would be very welcome indeed,i tend to only ever shoot in jpeg as i have read the jpegs out of this camera are very good, do you find this to be correct.

If you are not afraid of some little work and exploration with Olympus Master (which should be delivered with your camera) I would suggest you to take your photographs in RAW. You have much more dynamic range from RAW than jpeg because RAW saves all colors taken by the camera sensor. Jpeg looses a lot of them during process. All kinds of artistic filters done by the camera's built-in filters can be done with some softwares which are free as the Gimp, Paint.net and many others with much more flexibility and a total control on the output file. Just apply the basic correction (luminosity, contrast and so on...) to your RAW files with Olympus Master then save them in TIFF format if you want to add some artistic filter with external softwares. Or directly save in jpeg with Olympus Master for final output format. This is a little bit more work than directly saving in jpeg with your camera but you are sure to have exactly the result that YOU want from your photographs. Remember, RAW is digital equivalent to negatives or slides. Jpeg is like the final print you got from your photo lab. Do not throw your RAW files as you do not have thrown your negatives or slides.
